out the weapons and the tactics used during a prison riot. >>> caught on camera, auto workers drinking beer and smoking what appears to be pot on their lunch break. it didn't happen just once. the exclusive investigation that's ignited a scandal. >>> we'll begin with that massive fire. thanks for joining us, everyone. i'm brian bolt near and i'm shawn yancy. the flames broke out in one house and spread through parts of that manassas neighborhood within a matter of minutes. fox 5's bob barnard is there tonight on the still dropping story. >> reporter: this fire still smoldering seven hours later. you can see fire crews putting water on some hotspots. in the middle the house that was there is gone. on either side two others destroyed. take a look at this thing from the air. sky fox above the raging infernos around 4:00, three homes up in flames, but the scores of firefighters called to the scene, it's a losing battle for them. later from the ground the 8300 block of tillett loop in manassas looks like something here exploded destroying those three homes, the heat damaging several others.

yet tonight. >> we thank him for sharing with us their story. we're glad his family is safe and sound. bob barnard tonight. >>> the other big story we're following tonight, a deadly fire in a d.c. high rise may have been arson. tonight fire investigators are talking to persons of interest. three people were seriously hurt in that fire including a 2- year-old child. fox 5's karen gray houston is following the story. >> woke up and said what's going on? fire going on. there's a fire going on. get out. >> reporter: it was pandemonium, 3:45 in the morning residents woke up to billowing smoke and fire. a 911 call went out. firefighters arrived to find people desperately trying to get out. one man who jumped from a fifth floor window died. his nephew says he woke up his 38-year-old uncle, patrick perez and through a translator he tells us he climbed out the window first using a telephone cord. >> and then i started thinking what to do and that's when i grabbed the telephone cable, tied it up to the refrigerator and then threw it out the window. >> reporter: he made it to a tree below and ju
the car hit her and then took off. matt aklin joins us live. >> reporter: we took the family members off the camera who had just visited her in the hospital. they say she did not look good. doctors are not sure if she will recover. 24-year-old daniela was born in guatemala. most recently she lived and worked about a block from where she was hit around 8:00 saturday night. she was struck a few feet away from her boyfriend's home. >> i heard a thump. it sounded like a car hit another car. >> montgomery county police are doing all they can to find the driver of what they believe was a small dark sedan, possibly a honda. they say the force of the impact caused some damage and even a piece of evidence was left behind. >> it did leave the right-hand side exterior passenger mirror on the scene after it struck her. >> neighbors say this narrow stretch of carol avenue can be hazardous. many drivers ignore the speed limit we're told even with the school just across the street. >> i've seen a crossing guard almost get hit trying to cross the kids to school. so people don't go by the speed limit. >>
